Tongchun Mao

Tongchun Mao (毛彤春)

Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Surgery · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending · Lead Physician of This Site

Facial aesthetic surgery · facial fat grafting · revision planning

Dr. Tongchun Mao is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its aesthetic surgery service at Chongqing West District Hospital — the lead physician of this site's facial fat transfer content. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, he has rooted his clinical practice for more than 20 years and personally performs over 700 operations a year.

His facial practice covers rhinoplasty and nasal refinement, eyelid surgery, facial bone contouring of the cheekbone, jaw angle and chin, facelift and lifting procedures, and facial fat grafting. Fat transfer rewards restraint and patience more than most operations, because the result depends on how the tissue is handled at every stage and on a plan built around a range rather than a figure. His consistent philosophy is to operate on the anatomy the patient actually has, change only what the analysis justifies, and keep the result natural enough that nobody asks who the surgeon was.

Clinical focus

  • Facial fat grafting and volume restoration
  • Facelift, midface lift and facial rejuvenation
  • Eyelid surgery and periorbital refinement
  • Rhinoplasty, including structural grafting with the patient's own cartilage
  • Facial bone contouring: cheekbone, jaw angle and chin surgery
  • Revision assessment and planning after previous facial surgery

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Rhinoplasty and Trunk Tumor Groups, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Chongqing Medical Aesthetics Quality Control Center; Member, Chongqing Medical Accident / Disability Assessment Expert Pools
  • Deputy Chair, Chongqing Shapingba District Medical Aesthetics Committee
  • Published 5 SCI papers, holds 7 national patents, and has participated in 4 research projects
  • Repeatedly named an Outstanding Young Physician at Xinqiao Hospital since joining in 2005

Volume with restraint

More than 700 operations a year counts only alongside selection: every consultation is also a decision about whether surgery should happen at all. The operations a surgeon declines are part of the judgement you are hiring.

  • Repair of unsatisfactory cosmetic operations, including revision and reconstruction
  • Complex wound repair and tertiary-hospital surgical support

Ke He

Ke He (何锞)

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Skin quality · scar and pigment aftercare

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and head of its skin and laser aesthetic service. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, she has worked on the clinical front line in skin laser and injectable aesthetics for more than 20 years.

Fat transfer changes volume, not skin. Her role is the layer fat does not address: skin quality before surgery, and the scar and pigment aftercare afterwards, including the small donor-site scar and any pigmentation left behind by bruising.

Clinical focus

  • Skin quality and barrier repair before and after surgery
  • Scar prevention and repair, including pigment left by bruising
Yongbo Jia

Yongbo Jia (贾勇波)

Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

He graduated from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and trained in dermatology at the Institute of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and at Chongqing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Within the team his role is the skin itself: assessing before surgery the conditions that affect healing, and afterwards separating the skin problems fat transfer cannot change from the ones it can.

Clinical focus

  • Preoperative skin assessment and postoperative skin care
  • Pigment conditions and inflammatory skin disease that affect healing
